A Simple Plan For The New Year

Every year in December we start thinking about New Year's resolutions. In my opinion resolutions for the new year, aren't that important because over the years people tend to make them a New Year's Eve then forget about them by the next day. However, 2016, has been a rough year for everyone in America. I believe that if we each do more of these five things every day then our 2017 will be much better.

Give more:

This time of year is the perfect time to start putting this change into play. The other night I was watching Dolly Parton "is a circle of love" Christmas movie on NBC. The storyline was about how when Daley was little her family had to give up the idea of getting what they wanted for Christmas in order to give their mom a special Christmas present.it was very heartwarming to see children make a big sacrifice especially on Christmas.

I personally have never really cared much about getting things at Christmas time. The holiday season is still my favorite time of year because I get to give presents to the people I love. However I don't just give on Christmas, I give all your round. Since I was little my mom told me, "It's better to give than to receive". Pretty much all my life I've lived by that motto. I'm always the first one to think of others on their birthdays, Christmas, or even give them a "just because" gift. If I get invited to someone's house for dinner I bring something with me, I believe you should never show up at someone's house empty-handed. A few days ago I need a donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, it wasn't much but it helped regardless. Everyone should start to think of their own ways of how to give a little bit more each day.

Love yourself:

I'm sure we all struggled with this at some point in our lives. I personally have struggled with this a great deal. Living with a disability, sometimes it's hard to accept yourself.it wasn't until I became an adult that I realized that no matter what I look like, what I was or wasn't interested in, or what another person's opinion of me was, I am still an awesome person at the end of the day. We all have unique traits which make us who we are. In 2017, people need to embrace their differences and be who they are without feeling ashamed or unwanted.

Stop Procrastinating:

I have never understood why people procrastinate. It's one of my biggest pet peeves' ever. I come from a family Who chooses to wait until the last minute for everything. In my opinion choosing to procrastinate just makes things harder. I've always thought that when I have something to do just go ahead and get it done. That way you won't have to worry about it anymore.

I am a planner, I'm always thinking ahead. I always hear people tell me "oh, that's months away, why are you thinking about it now?" I always answer because I'd rather just dive in and tackle the task than to sit and stress about doing. it the more you think, the more you do, the more you accomplish, the better you feel.

Avoid Conflict As Much As Possible:

These days it seems like more people are looking to have arguments with others. Personally, I hate when people are mad at me. I always have this vision of living in a world that's calm and peaceful. The world in which everybody gets along. Unfortunately, the world we live in is definitely not like that. In today's world arguments inevitable. I believe that if people would stop holding grudges, and learn how to forgive the world would be a nicer place to live in.

That's my advice on what I feel our nation should improve on in the new year. If we all follow these steps we definitely will make America great again!
